Cultural context: Nami Island is genuinely meaningful to Korean culture — Winter Sonata put Korean dramas on the world map. Korean couples treat it as a romantic pilgrimage. The island manages itself as an independent "republic" (나미나라공화국) with its own stamps and currency, which is charming or cheesy depending on your perspective. The food on the island is basic and overpriced — eat before you go or bring snacks. This is a nature + photos destination, not a food destination.
메타세콰이어길 (Metasequoia Lane)
The most photographed spot on the island. Towering trees forming a natural tunnel. Stunning in every season but absolutely magical in autumn. Arrive before 9am for empty-lane photos.

Before You Go — Key Tips
- Best seasons: Autumn (Oct-Nov) and Spring (Apr-May). Summer is just a hot walk. Winter is atmospheric but cold. Autumn foliage is the undisputed peak.
- Arrive before 9am. Tour groups arrive by 10-11am. Early morning gives you empty tree lanes for photos.
- Entry: 19,000원 for adults (includes return ferry). Students 16,000원. Children 13,000원.
- Don't go just for Nami. Combine with Petite France or Garden of Morning Calm to make the 3-hour round trip worthwhile.
- Eat before you go. Island food is basic and tourist-priced. Grab a meal in Chuncheon (famous for dakgalbi) instead.
- Rent a bike. Walking the whole island takes 3+ hours. Biking takes 1.5-2 hours and is more fun.
🚇 How to get there: ITX-Cheongchun train from Yongsan/Cheongnyangni Station → Gapyeong Station (1hr). Then taxi or shuttle bus (10 min) to the ferry dock.
